EEU to closely monitor competition in digital markets
MINSK, Jul 15 - PrimePress. The Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) will closely monitor competition in digital markets, the press office of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) reports.

The EEC and experts of the EEU member states will work out approaches to assess competition in the digital markets with a focus on the definition of both geographical and product boundaries of the markets, says Arman Shakkaliev, EEC Minister in charge of Competition and Antitrust Regulation.

“Traditional approaches to determining the geographical boundaries of commodity markets are mostly suitable for classical commodity markets. Their application is difficult in the assessment of competition in digital markets, where, in fact, the boundaries are blurred,” says Shakkaliev.

In May 2021, the EEC Board approved a review of the competitive regulation of digital markets based on international experience. One of the conclusions is that methods of antitrust regulation of commodity markets in the digital economy lacked unambiguous understanding. End
