BUCE boosts seeds, PPA sales by 240% to Br102.7m in Jan-Jun 2021

The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) increased the sales of seeds and plant protection agents (PPA) in January-June 2021 by 240% year on year to Br102.7 million ($40.19 million at the rate of National Bank of Belarus), the BUCE press office reports.<br> <br> Winter rape and triticale seeds, herbicides and fungicides were in highest demand.<br> <br> Trading on BUCE helps level out prices amid increased demand during the sowing season. The average price decrease in the course of trading is about 15-17%, which covers the seasonal rise in price of seeds and PPA.<br> <br> Each trading session involves 60-70 supplying companies (100 at the height of the sowing season). All procurement orders are usually satisfied, the number of transactions varying from 350 to 700, depending on demand, BUCE says.<br> <br> Regular in-session bidding has been held since December 2019. In 2020, transactions with seeds and PPA amounted to Br53.7 million ($21.02 million).<br> <br> The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange OJSC was established in 2004.
