Belarus Telecom Ministry to monitor cellular operators’ compliance with law on combating money laundering
MINSK, Jul 8 - PrimePress. The Ministry of Telecommunication and Informatization of Belarus has been authorized to monitor operations of cellular operators for compliance with legislation on combating money laundering, financing of terrorism and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, as per presidential decree No.260 of July 6, 2021 posted on the National Legal Internet Portal.<br> <br> Mobile telecommunication operators are defined as persons engaged in financial transactions, and are required to comply with the legislation on the prevention of legalization of proceeds from crime, financing of terrorist activities and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.<br> <br> Main provisions of the decree come into force three months after publication.
