Gevorg Sargsyan appointed World Bank Country Manager for Belarus Jul 1, 2021
MINSK, Jul 16 - PrimePress. Gevorg Sargsyan is new World Bank Country Manager for Belarus since July 1, 2021, the bank reports.<br> <br> He replaced Alex Kremer, who headed the World Bank’s Office in Belarus since July 2017.<br> <br> Gevorg Sargsyan, an Armenian national, joined the World Bank in 2000. During his 20 years of experience at the World Bank, he has held various positions working across sectors and regions, including as Program Manager for Climate Finance and Global Lead for Clean Energy. He has a broad knowledge of the ECA region, having worked in many CIS countries and having led the World Bank’s infrastructure program in Russia from 2005-2008. Before coming to Belarus, Sargsyan has been the World Bank’s Manger of Operations in South-East Asia based in Myanmar<br> <br> Prior to joining the Bank, he worked in senior positions at various private and public sector organizations. He is the author and co-author of a number of publications and papers in the area of clean energy and infrastructure finance. He has an M.S. in applied math, and a Ph.D. (ABD) in economics.
