Belarus reports $1.248bn foreign trade surplus in Jan-May 2021
MINSK, Jul 13 - PrimePress. Belarus’ surplus in foreign trade in commodities and services amounted to $1.248 billion in Jan-May 2021 compared with a $548.1 million surplus in Jan-May 2020, says the National Statistics Committee of Belarus (Belstat).<br> <br> The foreign trade turnover of goods and services increased in Jan-May 2021 by 30.7% year on year to $34.885 billion.<br> <br> Exports of commodities and services increased in Jan-May 2021 by 32.7% year on year to $18.067 billion; imports were up 28.7% to $16.819 billion.<br> <br> The deficit of foreign trade in commodities amounted to $455.5 million in Jan-May 2021 to compare with a $1.008 billion deficit in Jan-May 2020.<br> <br> Exports of commodities (in FOB prices) were up 38.9% y/y in Jan-May 2021 to $14.16 billion, imports increased by 30.4% to $14.616 billion.<br> <br> The surplus of foreign trade in services amounted to $1.703 billion in Jan-May 2021 against a $1.556 billion surplus in Jan-May 2020.<br> <br> Exports of services increased in Jan-May 2021 by 14.3% year on year to $3.906 billion; imports were up 18.3% to $2.203 billion.<br> <br> As previously reported, Belarus’ foreign trade surplus stood at $1.922 billion in 2020. The turnover of foreign trade in goods and services totalled $72.242 billion; exports – $37.082 billion; imports – $35.16 billion. Export of goods (in FOB prices) amounted to $28.257 billion in 2020, imports – $30.226 billion; export of services – $8.825 billion; imports of services – $4.934 billion. End<br> <br>
