Belarus parts with $2bn to pay off foreign debt since early 2021 – premier
<p> MINSK, Dec 10 - PrimePress. Since early 2021 Belarus has already spent $2 billion to pay off the government’s external debt. Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko made a statement to this effect on 10 December at a meeting with members of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic in the Oval Hall to discuss budget bills, the government’s press-service informed. </p> <p> </p> <p> Golovchenko said: “We've spent virtually $2 billion on foreign debts this year. We will spend another $280 million on it by the end of the year. Thus, all the foreign debt payments will be made in full.” </p> <p> </p> <p> Meanwhile, Belarus' international reserve assets have increased by $1.1 billion since the beginning of the year. “Our gold and foreign exchange reserves totalled $8.5 billion as of 1 December,” the prime minister said. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Belarus' international reserve assets stood at $8.469 billion as of 1 December 2021.
