Belarus inflation slows down by 0.2 p.p. in November amid postponement of telecom tariff hike – EDB analysis
<p> MINSK, Dec 13 - PrimePress. Inflation in Belarus slowed down in November 2021 by 0.2 p.p. month on month to 10.3% year on year amid the postponement of the increase in telecommunication tariffs. This is stated in the Eurasian Development Bank's (EDB) weekly review of economic news published on 13 Dec 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> Earlier in October, EDB experts noted the high probability of annual inflation remaining close to 10% by the end of 2021, due to the increase in food prices in the global market and in the market of the key trading partner Russia, as well as a decline in grain crops. End </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Belarus’ telecommunication operator Beltelecom in coordination with the regulator postponed till 1 January 1 2022 the earlier announced 4% increase in tariffs for the Internet access services, which was due to take effect on 1 November 2021. Mobile operators A1 and MTS announced that they would offer discounts to subscribers until 31 December 2021 on a number of tariff plans, which were subject to an increase in rate from 1 November, up to the amount of the previous tariffs.
