Belarus’ capital investments down 7.2% in Jan-Jun 2021 to Br13.086bn
MINSK, Jul 16 - PrimePress. Belarus reduced capital investments in January-June 2021 by 7.2% year on year to Br13.086 billion ($5.14 billion at the rate of the National Bank of Belarus), the National Statistics Committee of Belarus (Belstat) said in a report.<br> <br> As much as Br4.911 billion ($1.93 billion) was spent on buying machines, equipment, and vehicles in Jan-Jun 2021, down 4.6% year on year.<br> <br> Investments in construction and assembly operations totalled Br6.678 billion ($2.62 billion) in Jan-Jun 2021, down 10% year on year.<br> <br> As much as 2.041 million square metres of new dwelling houses was commissioned in Jan-Jun 2021, up 15% year on year, including 632,500 square metres of homes (up 22.8%) built at the expense of soft loans from state-owned banks. <br> <br> In 2020, Belarus reduced capital investments by 6.8% year on year to Br28.716 billion ($11.29bn at the rate of the National Bank of Belarus). Spending on machinery, equipment and vehicles decreased by 16.4% to Br10.44 billion ($4.1bn), investments in construction and installation operations – up 1.4% to Br15.32 billion ($6bn), housing – up 2.3% to 4.156 million square meters.
