Belarus’ broad money supply down 0.6% in Jun 2021 to Br49.778bn

Belarus’ broad money supply reduced by 0.6% month on month in June 2021 to Br49.778 billion ($19.4bn) as of July 1, 2021, Belarus’ monetary authorities said in an online report.<br> <br> Deposits in foreign exchange decreased by 3.3% in Jun 2021 to Br26.325 billion ($10.26bn) as of Jul 1, 2021. The proportion of deposits in foreign exchange was at 52.89% as of Jul 1, 2021 against 54.68% as of Jun 1, 2021 and 55.86% as of Jan 1, 2021.<br> <br> Of the total money supply, cash in circulation (M0 aggregate) grew by 2.8% month on month in Jun 2021 to Br4.317 billion ($1.68bn) as of Jul 1, 2021. The proportion of cash in circulation made up 8.67% as of Jul 1, 2021, to compare with 8.43% as of Jun 1, 2021 and 8.12% as of Jan 1, 2021.<br> <br> M1 aggregate, which includes cash and current Belarusian ruble deposits with banks, increased by 5.1% month on month in Jun 2021 to Br10.482 billion ($4.09bn) as of Jul 1, 2021. M1 aggregate accounted for 21.06% of broad money supply as of Jul 1, 2021 (20.03% as of Jun 1, 2021; 20.24% as of Jan 1, 2022).<br> <br> Ruble money supply (M2* aggregate), which includes M1 and fixed-period ruble securities outside bank circulation, increased by 2.9% month on month in Jun 2021 to Br21.697 billion ($8.45bn). Ruble money supply accounted for 43.79% of broad money supply as of Jul 1, 2021, to compare with 42.34% as of Jun 1, 2021 (40.98% as of Jan 1, 2021).<br> <br> According to the main monetary policy guidelines for 2021, the average broad money supply (December 2021 on December 2020) is expected to increase by 7-10%. At the same time, the average ruble money supply can grow by 11-14% and the ruble monetary base by 10-13%.<br> <br> As previously reported, in 2020, Belarus’ broad money supply increased by 4.72%, cash in circulation - by 11.21% and the monetary aggregate M1 - by 0.08%.
