WANO’s Moscow Office conducts peer review of Belarus’ Astravyets nuke plant
<p> MINSK, Aug 20 - PrimePress. Experts of the Moscow Office of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) - an international group of nuclear power plant operators, dedicated to nuclear safety - have conducted a peer review of the Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP, Astravyets District, Grodno Oblast) and declare that they have not found any shortcomings that could become an obstacle to the launch of the first unit of the nuke plant. </p> <p> </p> <p> The pre-launch peer review was conducted by experts of WANO’s Moscow Office August 17 to 19, the Energy Ministry of Belarus said in a press statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> The message says that the inspection was carried out in the most important areas of production activity of the operating organization (Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant – editor’s note) to assess the readiness of equipment and systems of the first unit for safe start-up and further operation.
