UTLC ERA develops new tools for growth of cargo transportation in China-Europe-China direction

The United Transport and Logistics Company - Eurasian Railway Alliance (UTLC ERA) is working on new tools to increase the volume of cargo transportation in the China-Europe-China direction, said Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Mikhail Myasnikovich. </p> <p> </p> <p> “In 2020, cargo traffic in the China-Europe-China direction increased more than 11 times compared to the 2015 level - from 47,600 TEU to 546,900 TEU (20-foot equivalent container). In H1 2021, the figure was 1.5 times higher year on year. And this in an environment limited by coronavirus infection. Despite such successes, the UTLC is working on new tools to increase volumes. For example, the use of electronic navigation seals for transporting cargo in transit through the EEU (Eurasian Economic Union). The company is also actively implementing the principles of the green agenda, implementing an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient method of freight delivery. The memorandum on promotion of the sustainable development of the transit potential and environmental safety of the EEU railway transport developed by UTLC will consolidate the environmental principles of the company, including further reduction of its carbon footprint, and will also promote other important areas of its activities, including containerization and digitalization of transportation,” said Myasnikovich. </p> <p> </p> <p> In his words, the plan of priority measures to form the Eurasian part of the digital transport corridors and routes at the initiative of the Federal Customs Service of Russia includes an additional measure to scale up the experiment to test the electronic customs transit along the Naushki - Brest route to other areas of transport by rail between the EEU member states. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Kazakh-Russian-Belarusian company UTLC ERA transports 90 per cent of all transit freight between China and Europe.
