Union programmes planned for approval at Supreme State Council meeting on Nov 4 – Lukashenko

The union programmes to deepen Belarus-Russia integration are planned for signing at a session of the Supreme State Council of the Union State on 4 Nov 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko made a statement to this effect on 10 Sep at a meeting with chief of Russia’s Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin, the president’s press-service said in a statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> In his words, security issues were high on the agenda during the talks with President Putin. “The operation of investigative bodies was on the agenda. The Russian President and I agreed that we will do our best to support our investigators in this complicated time. The international situation has also affected our decision: the flow of refugees, the flow of drug to Russia and Belarus. Therefore, the role of investigative bodies is increasing. We will work together, and you can always count on us,” said Lukashenko. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Lukashenko and Putin at a meeting in Moscow on 9 Sep 2021 reconciled all 28 Union programmes to deepen the integration of the two countries. In particular, the programmes are aimed at harmonising tax and customs legislation of the two countries; the parties have agreed to sign an agreement on common principles of levying indirect taxes, introduce an integrated system of administering indirect taxes within the Union State. Common benchmarks have been defined for the future formation of a common monetary policy, implementation of currency regulation, integration of national payment systems and creation of a common payment space. The parties have also agreed to conduct a common macroeconomic policy, deepen cooperation in information security, customs, tax, energy and other areas. End </p>
