Ukraine sets 16.08% import duty on Belarus’ steel rods Dec 2, 2020
<p> MINSK, Nov 25 - PrimePress. Ukraine will apply a 16.08% special duty on steel rods imported from Belarus from December 2, 2020, according to the resolution of the Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade of Ukraine published by Government Courier on November 25, 2020. The resolution comes into force 7 days from the date of its publication. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Commission on International Trade considered the petition filed by the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine on “discriminatory and unfriendly actions of the Republic of Belarus regarding the legitimate rights and interests of foreign economic activity entities of Ukraine.” </p> <p> </p> <p> Previously, Belarus took restrictive measures with respect to the supply of waste and scrap ferrous metals to Ukraine, which, the latter believes, contradict the Belarusian-Ukrainian agreement on free trade of December 17, 1992 and the agreement on the free trade zone of October 18, 2011 (CIS). </p> <p> </p> <p> The special duty applies to hot-rolled rods up to 40 mm in diameter made of carbon and other alloyed steels.
