SvetlogorskKhimvolokno reports 13.5% rise in exports in Q1 2021 to $25.5m
<p> MINSK, Jun 11 – PrimePress. OAO SvetlogorskKhimvolokno (Svetlogorsk Chemical Fibre Plant) increased exports by 13.5% year on year in January-March 2021 to $25.5 million, CEO </p> <p> Vasily Kostyukevich said in an interview published by the Vestnik Belneftekhima corporate journal. </p> <p> </p> <p> “The growth of prices for raw materials and final products, as well as the change of the supply-demand ratio, all these factors influenced export sales and the work of the enterprise as a whole,” said Kostyukevich. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to him, the demand for nonwovens in the medical segment has reduced significantly due to the saturation of the market with these products, while in the other segments there is a stable level of consumption. </p> <p> </p> <p> “During the pandemic, we retained our main customers in traditional export markets in a situation when our facilities operated at full workload and the company had to reorient a significant volume of production to the needs of the medical sector. Thanks to this, this year we have significantly increased our sales to Poland, the Czech Republic and the Baltic States. Besides, we have entered the UK market,” Kostyukevich said. </p> <p> </p> <p> He said that the automotive market, after a significant drop in demand due to the lockdown and subsequent recession, is showing slow but steady growth, which is stimulating demand for arselon and polyester filaments. </p> <p> </p> <p> Founded in 1964, SvetlogorskKhimvolokno is one of the largest companies of the Belarusian petrochemical industry. The company produces polyester textile threads and artificial fibre. Products by SvetlogorskKhimvolokno are exported to more than 40 countries.
