Russian infrastructure ready for acquiring BelKart cards

Russia’s infrastructure is completely ready for acquiring cards of Belarus’ domestic payment system BelKart, and Mir payment system cards are already accepted at 90% of POS terminals in Belarus, the press service of the Russian government said after a high-level meeting of the Union State Council of Ministers on 10 August. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, member-banks of Belarus’ domestic payment system BelKart are obliged to accept cards of Russia’s payment system Mir in all POS terminals, ATMs and newly installed self-service payment terminals in connection with the completion of the BelKart-Mir cross-system integration project from 1 Jan 2022, in accordance with resolution #197 of 5 July 2021 of the National Bank Board. </p> <p> </p> <p> The BelKart payment system embraces the following banks: Belarusbank, Belagroprombank, Belinvestbank, BPS-Sberbank, Statusbank, Belgazprombank, Priorbank, Paritetbank and Bank BelVEB, Bank Reshenie, MTBank, BNB-Bank, BSB Bank, Dabrabyt Bank, Fransabank, Technobank, Zepter Bank, BTA Bank, RRB-Bank, Alfa-Bank (Belarus), Idea Bank, Absolutbank. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the National Bank of Belarus, as of 1 April 2021, the following banks provided acquiring services for Mir cards: VTB Bank (Belarus), ASB Belarusbank, Bank BelVEB, Belagroprombank, Belinvestbank, BPS-Sberbank, BNB-Bank, Bank Resolution, BSB Bank, Idea Bank, RRB-Bank, Fransabank. End </p> <p> </p> <p> Mir is the Russian national payment system. Payments are made in Russian rubles with debit and credit cards. Mir is operated by the National Payment Card System JSC. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Mir national payment system was created after Visa and MasterCard had denied service to some Russian banks because of the US sanctions imposed on Moscow over the conflict in Ukraine. The system was launched in Russia in April 2015. </p> <p> </p> <p> Established in 1994, BelKart is Belarus’ largest payment system with regard to the number of active cards. BelKart conducted a restyling campaign in 2013 and was transformed into ZAO BelKart Payment System. End </p>
