Russia supports Belarus’ efforts to overcome sanctions - Mishustin
<p> MINSK, Nov 18 - PrimePress. Moscow supports Minsk in its efforts to overcome sanctions, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Roman Golovchenko on 18 November. </p> <p> </p> <p> “We certainly support efforts to overcome illegal unilateral sanctions, the economic restrictions that were imposed on Belarus,” Mishustin said. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the Russian prime minister, Moscow believes that it is crucial to take bilateral relations to an even higher level and strengthen integration within the Union State of Russia and Belarus, launching new projects with regard to a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda. </p> <p> </p> <p> Mishustin emphasized that it was in the interests of the two countries' people as it would make it possible to establish a common economic and social space. </p> <p> </p> <p> The bilateral meeting of the heads of government took place on the sidelines of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Yerevan, Armenia, on 18-19 November. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, the European Union imposed sanctions against major sectors of the Belarusian economy since 25 June 2021, and on 9 August the US, the UK and Canada imposed sectoral sanctions. Earlier, the EU imposed three more parcels of sanctions, which it justified by the escalation of human rights violations in Belarus after the August 2020 presidential election. The overall sanctions list includes 166 individuals and 15 organizations and companies. On 15 November, foreign ministers of member states of the European Union (EU) reached a political agreement on applying the 5th parcel of sanctions against Belarus. End </p> <p> </p>
