Russia’s Transport Ministry to address problem of cargo transportation from EU to Russia by road amid migration crisis

The Ministry of Transport of Russia will work together with relevant agencies on the problem of cargo transportation by road fr om Europe to Russia amid the migration crisis at the border between Belarus and the European Union (EU), said the press service of the Ministry of Transport. </p> <p> </p> <p> On 22 November, the Russian business daily Kommersant reported on problems with the delivery of European cargos to the country, citing a letter from the Foreign Investment Advisory Council (FIAC) to Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Belousov. In the letter, the business community asked the official to help resolve this situation that arose against the backdrop of the migration crisis. In particular, the letter mentioned the traffic collapse at the Bobrowniki checkpoint (on the border between Belarus and Poland), wh ere a 25-kilometer traffic jam of trucks was formed, which, according to the newspaper, threatened Russian consumers with disruption of deliveries of goods.
