Russia, Belarus almost ready with interbudget oil payment deal

An agreement between the finance ministries of Russia and Belarus on interbudget payments for Russian oil supplies to Minsk is almost ready, First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Dmitri Krutoy told reporters on Thursday, as reported by the press-service of the Belarusian government. </p> <p> </p> <p> “The 2020 agreements with the Russian Federation on compensation of the remaining premium from the Russian budget are at a final stage. The agreement is almost ready. I think the finance ministries are about to finalize it,” Krutoy said. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Russian oil companies would suspend crude supplies to Belarus on Jan 1, 2020 due to a price disagreement. Belarus found it inexpedient to keep paying the same amount of premium to Russian supplies. In Apr 2020 oil supplies were resumed, and the parties reached an agreement that Russian companies would supply crude to Belarus without a premium. A certain share of the premium will be compensated by the Russian government by means of interbudgetary settlements. On Mar 25 the Finance Ministry of Belarus reported on the start of work on the mechanism for inter-budgetary oil settlements. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus’ Prime Minister Sergey Rumas said in April that Belarus expected to receive 2 million tonnes of Russian oil in April at around U.S. $4 per barrel. The Russian government will compensate $4.7 per tonne premium to suppliers via interbudget settlements, and companies will cut the premium by $7 per tonne. End </p> <p> </p>
