Russia and Belarus to work out terms of fertilizer export through Russian ports - Ministry of Transport

Ministries of Transport of Russia and Belarus are planning to work out the terms of export supplies of Belarusian potash fertilizers through Russian ports, Russian Transport Minister Vitaly Savelyev told reporters on 19 February. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported on February 19, Minister of Transport and Communications Alexei Avramenko and Russian Transport Minister Vitaly Savelyev signed an agreement on transshipment of Belarusian oil products through Russian ports. The agreement provides for transshipment of over 9.8 million tons of fuel oil, gasoline and oil by Belarusian companies in Russian seaports on the Baltic Sea in 2021-2023, including up to 3.5 million tons in 2021, 3.2 million tons in 2022 and 3.1 million tons in 2023. </p> <p> </p> <p> "Alexei Avramenko and I will continue our work. We still have an opportunity to continue work on other products manufactured in Belarus, for instance... Potash fertilizers (which – editor’s note) are produced (by Belarus - editor’s note) for export in the amount of about 10 million tons," Prime reports citing Saveliev as saying. </p> <p> </p> <p> In his words, this means that the parties can begin the work and work out the terms under which it will be profitable for Belarus to supply its export products through the Russian ports. </p> <p> </p> <p> Avramenko also confirmed that Belarus is ready to discuss the reorientation of potash export traffic to Russian ports. </p> <p> </p> <p> "We will test these routes on the example of oil products, and we are ready to discuss these issues with our colleagues in the future. It is not only potash fertilizers, but also timber cargoes, cargoes of machine-building complex, etc. This issue requires more detailed elaboration in terms of capacity, port infrastructure," he said.
