MINSK, Jul 1 - PrimePress. Russia will keep providing fraternal Belarus with comprehensive support amid the challenging domestic political situation in that country and the external attempts to fuel tensions, Russian President Vladimir Putin told an online forum of Russian and Belarusian regions, as reported by the Kremlin press-service.
“We will continue providing our fraternal Belarusian people with comprehensive support in the current rather challenging domestic political situation in Belarus, amid the ongoing political and sanctions pressure and persistent attempts to rock the boat from overseas,” Putin stressed.
Putin vowed that Russia would further support its “Belarusian friends in countering sanctions-related restrictions, recently imposed by the EU.” “We believe that the ban on the supplies of some Belarusian goods to the EU countries harms interests of businesses and people,” he noted.
In his words, Russia is determined to further consistently develop multifaceted relations with the Republic of Belarus, focus on building our common Union State and in a broader sense to enhance integration processes on the Eurasian space, and we will do this also in the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union and the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
“The economies of Russia and Belarus are deeply interconnected. Our country is the main foreign investor in Belarus, accounting for 30% of foreign investments. There are about 2,400 Russian companies operating in the Belarusian market. Russia accounts for nearly half of Belarus' foreign trade,” Putin said.
In his words, now an active effort is underway on harmonizing programs on unification of legislation in the countries in various fields, including tax and customs. “Their implementation will allow to provide equal conditions of activity for companies, complete the creation of single financial, energy markets and transport space and also form common industrial, agricultural and digital policies,” the president stated.
Russia and Belarus are studying unified digital solutions to develop private entrepreneurship on a parity basis, Putin said.
“At present, at the level of the governments of Russia and Belarus, the matters of the use of unified digital solutions – which will seriously facilitate the procedures of taxation, customs clearance, improve traceability of transit cargo – are being considered,” Putin said. It will give momentum to the businesses of the two countries on a non-discriminatory, equal basis, he said. End
