Putin appoints Lukyanov as Russian ambassador to Belarus
<p> MINSK, Mar 26 - PrimePress. Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed Yevgeny Lukyanov as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Belarus. This decision is enshrined in President Putin’s Decree No.177 of 25 March 2021, which was published on the Russian official website of legal information. </p> <p> </p> <p> Lukyanov served as Russian Ambassador to Latvia in 2016-2021; 2012-2016 - as Assistant Secretary of the Russian Security Council (Nikolai Patrushev’s deputy); 2010-2012 - as Patrushev’s aide; 2006-2010 - Lukyanov held various positions in the office of the Russian Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative in the North-Western Federal District; in 1993-2006 he held senior positions in Dresdner Bank and Vneshtorgbank. Prior to that, he worked in the Soviet Ministry of Foreign Affairs. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Lukyanov took over from Dmitry Mezentsev as ambassador to Belarus, who was appointed Secretary of State of the Union State of Russia and Belarus on 21 March 2021.
