Ozon registers Belarus-based company to develop own logistics

The Russian marketplace Ozon has registered an operating company entitled Ozon Rocket Bel LLC in Belarus to develop its own logistics infrastructure in the country, the company said in a statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> “Ozon announces the registration of the legal entity Ozon Rocket Bel LLC, an operating company in the Republic of Belarus. The new entity is set up for scaling up its business in the country, first of all for expanding its logistics infrastructure,” reads the statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> The company plans to open a sorting centre in Belarus in 2021. It also plans to increase the number of pickup points both in partnership with local logistics operators and through the creation of a branded network of pickup points. </p> <p> </p> <p> The site has launched a shop window in Belarusian roubles for local customers and also plans to create a special shop window with goods from Belarusian manufacturers. </p> <p> </p> <p> Ozon is one of the largest online marketplaces in Russia. The marketplace offers more than 11 million product items in more than 20 categories. The main shareholders of the company are Sistema and Baring Vostok funds. At the end of November 2021, Ozon conducted a simultaneous IPO on Nasdaq and the Moscow Exchange. The company raised US$ 1.2 billion from the IPO and private placement. End </p>
