The number of bank payment cards issued in Belarus decreased by 0.3% in 2020 to 15.487 million as of January 1, 2021, the National Bank of Belarus (NBB) reports on its website. </p> <p> </p> <p> The number of BelKart cards was down 32.5% to 2.337 million in 2020; BelKart/Maestro – up 11.9% to 1.902 million; VISA – up 8.9% to 5.577 million; MasterCard – up 8.1% to 5.668 million; Union Pay – up 40% to 3,200 as of January 1, 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> Bank payment cards for domestic and international payment systems were issued by 23 banks of Belarus. </p> <p> </p> <p> Banks reduce card processing infrastructure </p> <p> </p> <p> The number of trade (service) outlets equipped with payment terminals decreased by 2.4% to 124,947 in 2020; the number of payment terminals in trade (service) outlets – by 2.5% to 168,927. </p> <p> </p> <p> All installed terminals support EMV standard cards (chip cards); 92.1% service contactless cards. </p> <p> </p> <p> As of January 1, 2021, acquiring services for trade (service) organizations for transactions with VISA, MasterCard and BelKart are provided by 12 banks: ASB Belarusbank OJSC, including online acquiring (additionally with the use of Union Pay and Mir bank payment cards); Belagroprombank OJSC, including online acquiring (additionally with Mir bank payment cards); Belinvestbank OJSC (additionally with JCB payment cards); BelVEB Bank OJSC, including online acquiring (additionally with Mir bank cards); Alfa-Bank CJSC, only online acquiring (additionally with Mir payment cards); Priorbank OJSC, including online acquiring; MTBank CJSC, including online acquiring; BSB Bank OJSC, including online acquiring (additionally with Mir payment cards); BPS-Sberbank OJSC (additionally with American Express payment cards); Belgazprombank JSC, including online acquiring (additionally with Union Pay payment cards); Paritetbank JSC (BelKart payment cards only); Dabrabyt Bank JSC (online acquiring only). </p> <p> </p> <p> The number of payment terminals at cash points decreased by 6.4% to 5,087 in 2020; the number of ATMs – by 2.2% to 4,387 thousand; self-service terminals – by 8.2% to 2,827. </p> <p> </p> <p> Proportion of non-cash payments is growing </p> <p> </p> <p> The number of transactions with bank cards in Belarus increased by 12% to 2.045 billion in 2020; the amount of transactions – by 19.7% to Br87.13 billion ($33.32 billion at the rate of National Bank of Belarus). </p> <p> </p> <p> The share of non-cash transactions made up 91.2% by number and 60.2% in value in 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> The National Bank reports steady growth of the share of non-cash transactions with bank cards in the total number of transactions: 72% in 2014; 76.4% in 2015; 79.8% in 2016; 83.1% in 2017; 86.2% in 2018; 88.8% in 2019. The number of trade (service) outlets equipped with payment terminals decreased by 2.4% to 124,947 in 2020; the number of payment terminals in trade (service) outlets – by 2.5% to 168,927.
All installed terminals support EMV standard cards (chip cards); 92.1% service contactless cards.

The number of transactions with bank cards in Belarus increased by 12% to 2.045 billion in 2020; the amount of transactions – by 19.7% to Br87.13 billion ($33.32 billion at the rate of National Bank of Belarus).
The share of non-cash transactions made up 91.2% by number and 60.2% in value in 2020.
The National Bank reports steady growth of the share of non-cash transactions with bank cards in the total number of transactions: 72% in 2014; 76.4% in 2015; 79.8% in 2016; 83.1% in 2017; 86.2% in 2018; 88.8% in 2019. End
