National Bank to keep 2022 minimum regulatory capital for banks at Q4 2021 level

The National Bank of Belarus (NBB) keeps the minimum size of the regulatory capital of banks and non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs) in 2022 at the level of the fourth quarter of 2021, the National Bank’s Department of Information and Public Relations said. </p> <p> </p> <p> A bank’s minimum regulatory capital bank in effect for the fourth quarter of 2021 has been maintained at Br66.66 million ($26.27 million at the exchange rate of the National Bank). </p> <p> </p> <p> The minimum regulatory capital of NBFIs, which are entitled to provide cash services to individuals and legal entities, exchange foreign currency, buy and sell precious metals and stones, provide safety deposit boxes and also carry money and valuables, remained at Br720,000 ($283,755, $1 = Br2.5374). </p> <p> </p> <p> The NBFIs which, in addition to the banking operations listed above, are authorized to raise funds for accounts and/or deposits, open and maintain bank accounts for legal entities, and collect cash, payment instructions, precious metals, stones and other valuables, must have capital of at least Br3.7 million ($1.46 million). </p> <p> </p> <p> The minimum regulatory capital for NBFIs, which in addition to the above banking operations have the right to issue bank guarantees, perform fiduciary management of funds under a cash fiduciary management agreement and engage in financing against the assignment of monetary claims (factoring), also remained at Br7.43 million ($2.928 million).
