Naftan puts into operation three facilities of delayed coking plant in Jan-Feb

Naftan Oil Refinery (Novopolotsk, Vitebsk Oblast) put into operation three facilities of the slow coking plant in January-February 2021, said Naftan CEO Andrei Soiko. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, the slow coking plant includes 19 units. Naftan commissioned eight units in 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> In his words, in 2020 Naftan received the first production at the elemental sulphur production unit by the Klaus method which transforms production emissions of hydrogen sulphide into marketable products. Thus, Naftan secured supplies of elemental sulphur to a number of Belarusian enterprises, including Gomel Chemical Plant and Grodno Azot. </p> <p> </p> <p> Soiko said that with the hydrogen production unit, the enterprise will increase the production of hydrogen, which is necessary to improve the quality of products and the oil conversion ratio. </p> <p> </p> <p> The cost of Naftan’s production upgrade programme amounts to $1.64 billion. The refinery finances the project at its own expense, loans drawn from Belarus Development Bank, Belarusian and foreign banks. As a result of the upgrade, Naftan will have the capacity to refine 12 million tons of oil per year, bring the oil conversion ratio to no less than 90% and the yield of light oil products to no less than 70%. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Naftan refinery was put into operation in 1963 and incorporated in 2002. The state share in its authorized capital is 99.83%. In 2008 the refinery was reorganized through affiliation with Polimir OJSC. Naftan produces euro-4 and euro-5 diesel fuel, petrol and lubricants, which are exported to the EU, the Middle East and the United States. End </p> <p> </p>
