MTS to expand 4G network in Minsk Oblast

Belarus’ telecom operator MTS (Mobile TeleSystems JLLC) is expanding 4G coverage in Minsk Oblast – starting May 20 the promising band - LTE-800 – will be available in more than 140 settlements in Minsk Oblast, the operator’s press service said. </p> <p> </p> <p> “MTS is increasing its 4G network in Minsk Oblast. The new LTE-800 band will be launched in more than 140 localities of the region. As a result, high-speed Internet will become available in the suburbs of regional centres, along highways and in rural areas, including remote villages. With the technological readiness of the infrastructure operator beCloud, 4G network will be launched on May 20 in Slootsk, Stolbtsy, Kletsk, Dzerzhinsk, Molodechno, Vileika, Myadel, Pukhovichy, Borisov, Nesvizh, Starya Dorogi, Logoisk and other areas of Minsk Oblast,” the operator said. </p> <p> </p> <p> The project to launch and develop LTE-800 in rural areas is implemented jointly with the infrastructure partner becloud. The LTE-800 range is to be introduced in all regions of Belarus by 2023. </p> <p> </p> <p> MTS was registered in Belarus on April 4, 2002. The operator is a joint venture between Russia’s largest mobile operator Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) and Belarus’ Beltelecom operator. The companies hold respective stakes of 49% and 51% in the joint venture. </p> <p> </p> <p> MTS Belarus started providing GSM 900/1800 standard services on June 27, 2002; launched 3G revenue service in May 2010 and 4G revenue service in December 2015. The operator’s subscriber base totals 5.7 million. End </p>
