Mozyr NPZ refinery to raise NCI from 9.73 to 11.81 after launching H-Oil plant

Mozyr Oil Refinery (Gomel Oblast) will see its Nelson Complexity Index (NCI) grow from 9.73 to 11.81 after launching a proprietary heavy oil residue hydrocracking complex (H-Oil), the company’s press-service said. </p> <p> </p> <p> At the moment, the Mozyr refinery is busy performing start-up operations and plans to get its H-Oil plant operation any time soon. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, in Sep 2021 the Mozyr refinery embarked on a new stage of start-up operations at the H-Oil plant - catalyst loading. As the H-Oil catalyst differs from other catalysts used in the plant’s processes, the loading specialists involved had to apply special technical solutions. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, during the last three years the Mozyr refinery has been busy constructing a $1.2bn H-oil cracking facility. The H-oil project design is based on the technology licensed by France’s Axens. It is a key project in the Mozyr-based oil refinery’s upgrade programme. The project will enable Mozyr NPZ to push the oil conversion ratio to 90% from 84% at the moment. The estimated value of the project has grown to $1.45 billion. </p> <p> </p> <p> The launch of the new unit will allow the Mozyr Refinery to increase the output of light oil products up to 65%, including a 665,000 ton increase of diesel fuel and 1.181-1.265 million ton of hydrotreated vacuum gas oil, as well as to reduce the production of boiler fuel by about 2.29 million ton per annum. </p> <p> </p> <p> The refinery was established in 1975 and transformed into a joint-stock company in 1994, with a 42.757% stake currently owned by the state.
