MAZ reports 67.8% rise in sales of new trucks in Russia in 1Q2021
<p> MINSK, Apr 9 - PrimePress. OAO Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ, managing company at BelavtoMAZ Group), increased sales of new trucks in Russia in January-March 2021 by 67.8% year on year to 1,255 units, according to a review by Russia’s Avtostat agency. </p> <p> </p> <p> In March 2021 alone, sales of new MAZ trucks in Russia grew by 85.7% yoy to 518 units. </p> <p> </p> <p> Following the results of January-March 2021 MAZ holds the fourth position in sales of new trucks in Russia. Russia’s KamAZ is in the first place (7,257 trucks, +24% yoy), Russia’s GAZ - second place (1,862, +11.1%), Swedish Scania - third place (1,257, +36.6%), Russia’s URAL - fifth (1,163 thousand, +13.2%). </p> <p> </p> <p> Separately, in March 2021, KamAZ came in the winner selling 2,836 trucks, up 50.9% yoy, second - GAZ (762, +46%), third - Scаnia (623, +92.3%), fifth - URAL (474, +43.6%). </p> <p> </p> <p> In January-March 2021 the new trucks market in Russia amounted to 19,365 thousand units, which is 11.6% more than in January-March 2020; in March 2021 - 7,968 thousand units, up 45.1% yoy. </p> <p> </p> <p> MAZ, the country’s largest OAO, is fully owned by the Belarusian government.
