MAZ, MTZ, MZKT, Belaruskali operate normally despite calls for strike

Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) operates normally despite the announced mass strike, Russian RIA Novosti news agency reports, citing a source in the company. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarusian Telegram channels claimed earlier citing eyewitnesses and workers that strikes had begun at several enterprises, Minsk Tractor Plant (MTZ), Grodno Azot, Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant (MZKT), Atlant and Belkommunmash among them. Alexander Isayeva, Press Secretary of the Prime Minister of Belarus, says that no interruptions had been reported as of this morning, and all enterprises of the real sector were operating normally. </p> <p> </p> <p> Minsk Automobile Plant says that the work has not stopped. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belaruskali, one of the world’s largest producers of potash fertilizers, also says that there have been no interruptions. “The enterprise is operating normally. All workshops, mine groups and auxiliary production units are working,” a representative of the Belaruskali management told RIA Novosti. </p> <p> </p> <p> “The plant is working,” says the Minsk Tractor Plant administration. The workers came to work, and shift began at 7 a.m. in all shops. </p> <p> </p> <p> Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant says that its workshops have not stopped working, Sputnik Belarus reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> The MZKT administration told Sputnik that the morning shift was working as usual. </p> <p> </p> <p> The enterprises managed by Belneftekhim state petrochemical concern are working, although a strike was reported earlier. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to Svaboda Radio (Radio Liberty), Grodno Azot workers refused to work in the morning, and the night shift continued working as of 15:30 October 26. </p> <p> </p> <p> The period of the “people’s ultimatum” delivered by former presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya ended on October 25.
