Lukashenko sees stabilization and decline in coronavirus incidence in Belarus’ regions

The coronavirus incidence dynamics has stabilized and shows a decline in some regions of Belarus, President Alexander Lukashenko said at the meeting on socio-economic and political affairs held on May 25. </p> <p> </p> <p> “If this trend stands, we will say that with God’s help we have coped with this disease [COVID-19]. It began in the Vitebsk Oblast, which already reports a decrease in the number of cases,” he said. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the president, a similar situation is observed in Minsk. “We are already on a plateau, as doctors say. I’m not that optimistic, though, as I’m a superstitious person,” Lukashenko said, “Anyway, based on the recent developments, we can repurpose a number of healthcare institutions of Minsk back to their fields, including oncological and gynecological, and the emergency care hospital will soon return to normal operation.” </p> <p> </p> <p> He said the situation has stabilized in the Minsk and Mogilev Oblasts. “Only the Brest and Gomel Oblasts will remain in this respect, and we must tightly monitor them.
