Lukashenko orders to create a price regulation system in Belarus
<p> MINSK, Dec 21 - PrimePress. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has ordered to create a price regulation system in Belarus. He made a statement to this effect at a ceremony to announce his new personnel decisions on 21 Dec 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Lukashenko appointed Alexey Bogdanov (formerly deputy minister of agriculture) Minister of Anti-Monopoly Regulation and Trade. </p> <p> </p> <p> Lukashenko said: “We have lots of problems in antimonopoly regulation … It is necessary to use antimonopoly tools in order to somehow suspend prices, keep them in the affordable range. … It is up to you how you do it: via profit margins, profitability of retailers or some other way… It is necessary to create a system and that's it. There is no system for now.” </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, inflation in Belarus in November 2021 stood at 0.5%, January-November - 9%. In November 2021, consumer prices rose by 10.3% year on year; January- November 2021 - by 9.4%. The government’s 2021 inflation target is 5% or less; 2022 – 6% or less. End </p> <p> </p>
