Lukashenko makes new personnel appointments
<p> MINSK, Nov 19 - PrimePress. Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko on November 19 appointed Yuri Nazarenko First Deputy Minister and Head of Public Security Police; Nikolai Karpenkov - Deputy Interior Minister and Commander of Internal Troops; Andrei Lyubimov - Head of Internal Affairs of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee. </p> <p> </p> <p> A report to this effect was released by Lukashenko’s press-service. </p> <p> </p> <p> Prior to that, Nazarenko held the post of Deputy Interior Minister and commander of the internal troops; Karpenkov’s previous position was the head of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption (GUBOPIK); Lyubimov’s - first deputy head of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee. </p> <p> </p> <p> Lukashenko justified these appointments by strengthening the importance of the public security system: “The essence of current appointments and personnel reshuffles is that we attach more importance to the public security system in the Ministry of Internal Affairs... Based on our experience, the situation in the country, recent events, we are convinced and understand that in the future public safety will be the most important area of work for our police.
