Lukashenko instructs Belkoopsoyuz to process 90% of products procured from suppliers
<p> MINSK, Oct 8 - PrimePress. The Belarusian National Union of Consumer Societies (Belkoopsoyuz) has been instructed to reach 90% of processing in its product procurement system by 2025. The target was set by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a general meeting of representatives of the members of the Belarusian National Union of Consumer Societies (Belkoopsoyuz) on 8 October. </p> <p> </p> <p> The country has huge reserves for processing, said Lukashenko. The Belarusian products account for slightly over 50% of the canned fruit and vegetable market, 60% of juices and pickled vegetables and 85% of baby food. “These are your niches. Hold them. We will support you here. Go win back that market. Why do we import so much ketchup, canned beans, mushrooms, corn and peas? We can produce all of this in Belarus. You boast that you are reviving folk crafts, brands, creating modern trademarks. Where is the result? Your task is to reach 90% of processing in your own procurement system by 2025,” said Lukashenko. </p> <p> </p> <p> In his opinion, Belkoopsoyuz can compete with retail chains in dealing with suppliers. “The formation of a unified system of wholesale purchase remains an important task for consumer societies. From 5% to 10% of added value can be lost in this segment. You know my attitude to unjustified mediators,” Lukashenko said. </p> <p> </p> <p> He encourages Belkoopsoyuz to develop an online trade segment. Lukashenko said: “I don't compare you with major retailers in Minsk. It is not difficult to bring products to one retail outlet and reap the profits. But not every retailer can reach every small village in the middle of nowhere. But there are solutions for that, too. Look how much the Internet and online trade have developed in the last few years.” </p> <p> </p> <p> He also instructed to take proper care to preserve the harvested potatoes, vegetables and fruit, because the sale of earlier purchased products not only saturates the market, but also regulates prices in the off-season. Today Belkoopsoyuz has about 130 modern storage facilities. </p> <p> </p> <p> “Food prices are rising and will continue to rise after the pandemic. We have invested a lot in the countryside.
