Lukashenko bans registration of housing bonds in Belarus

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed Ordinance #176 on 4 May 2021, which establishes a ban on housing bond registration, the presidential press service said in a statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> “The document was adopted to protect the interests of citizens investing in housing,” reads the statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> The ordinance provides for exceptional cases when the registration of housing bonds is allowed - within the implementation of investment agreements between investors and the Republic of Belarus, entered into before the entry into force of the decree and assuming the possibility of using housing bonds. </p> <p> </p> <p> "The ordinance shall come into force six months after its official publication. This will allow developers to issue housing bonds during this period, if necessary, to complete the construction of residential buildings," reported the president’s press service. End </p> <p> </p>
