Lukashenko backs FPB initiative to create insurance fund against bankruptcy
<p> MINSK, Aug 9 – PrimePress. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has supported the initiative of the Trade Unions Federation of Belarus (TUFB) to establish an insurance fund, which would protect from bankruptcy, and instructed the trade unions to prepare a corresponding document together with the government, TUFB chairman Mikhail Orda said in a statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> At present, there are more than 100 thousand legal entities in Belarus, which theoretically can fall under the bankruptcy procedure. “It is not uncommon when a company declared bankrupt has wage arrears and outstanding contributions to the Social Security Fund for workers. Today, there are more than 40 thousand people in such a situation in Belarus. This means that people may lose their seniority, and thus a certain level of their pension when the time comes to retire,” 1prof.by reports citing Orda as saying. </p> <p> </p> <p> To address this situation, the TUFB has voiced a proposal, which was reconciled with the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. The idea is to set up an insurance fund. </p> <p> </p> <p> “Every enterprise is expected to contribute an insignificant amount to create the fund. The total burden on the enterprise will increase by only 0.015%. The amount is negligible and there will be absolutely no economic pressure on the economy of the company, but there will be an insurance fund from which people will be able to receive compensation,” said Orda.
