Inflation in Belarus at 0.6% in Oct 2020; 5.4% in Jan-Oct 2020
<p> MINSK, Nov 10 - PrimePress. Inflation in Belarus was at 0.6% in October 2020; 4.7% in January-October 2020. Prices rose by 6.2% year on year in October and by 5.3% year on year in January-October 2020, the National Statistics Committee of Belarus (Belstat) said in a report. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, inflation in Belarus stood at 0.9% in January 2020; 1% in February; 0.9% in March; 0.6% in April; 0.2% deflation in May; 0.2% inflation in June, July and August; 0.9% inflation in September. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to Belstat, food prices increased by 0.6% year on year in Oct 2020 and by 3.5% from Dec 2019. Food prices were up 4.6% year on year in Oct 2020; 4.4% yoy in Jan-Oct 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Non-food prices rose by 0.9% month on month in Oct 2020, up 7.3% from Dec 2019. Non-food prices rose by 7.5% yoy in Oct 2020, up 5.1% yoy in Jan-Oct 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Prices and tariffs for-fee services increased by 0.3% in Oct 2020 against Sep 2020; up 6% from Dec 2019. Prices of for-fee services increased in Oct 2020 by 7.1% against Oct 2019; by 7% year on year in Jan-Oct 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, inflation in Belarus was at 4.7% in 2019, the official forecast being 5%. The official inflation forecast for 2020 is also at or below 5%. The National Bank of Belarus did not rule out, though, that inflation might grow to 6%. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko said in November that inflation can go up to 10% by the end of 2020. End </p>
