Idea Bank suspends retail lending from 1 October

Idea Bank is suspending the acceptance of new loan applications, as well as the conclusion of loan transactions with individuals from 1 October 2021, according to the bank’s website. </p> <p> </p> <p> The suspension of credit operations is related to Idea Bank’s merger with Belarus’ MTBank, which will become the legal successor in respect of all liabilities of Idea Bank. According to MTBank’s press service, this procedure is expected to be completed by 31 October 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> Idea Bank CJSC (Sombelbank until February 2013) was registered in April 2004. Getin Holding S.A. is its principal shareholder. </p> <p> </p> <p> MTBank CJSC was registered by the National Bank of Belarus in March 1994. It is one of the five Belarusian banks with its own processing centre for plastic cards. As previously reported, MTBank CJSC purchased a 99.999% stake in Idea Bank from the Polish Getin Holding S.A. for Br50 million ($20.002 million at the rate of National Bank of Belarus) on Apr 1, 2021. As a result of the incorporation deal, MTBank expects to become one of the three leaders in consumer lending, strengthening its position, in particular, in the segments of home loans, car loans and personal leasing.
