Gas flow via Yamal-Europe main drops 50% Aug 11 to 1m cubic metres per hour

<p> MINSK, Aug 11 - PrimePress. The physical gas flow through the Yamal-Europe pipeline in the morning on 11 August 2021 decreased by 1.5 times to the average level of the previous day, oilcapital.ru reported with reference to the data of the gas transmission operator Gascade (Germany). </p> <p>   </p> <p> According to Gascade, on August 10 an average of 1.5 million cubic metres per hour were delivered at the German gas transmission system’s entry point; on the morning of August 11 the flow decreased to 1 million cubic metres per hour. </p> <p>   </p> <p> The gas transmission system has been destabilised since 5 August, when a fire broke out at Gazprom's Urengoy condensate preparation plant, Gazprom Pererabotka Ltd. The plant is part of the Urengoy Gas Production Complex, which receives and processes unstable gas condensate from the largest fields in the Nadym-Pur-Taz Region, the main gas-bearing province in Russia. </p> <p>   </p> <p> Due to the fire, the plant stopped receiving raw materials altogether, which resulted in a significant drop in Gazprom’s production. The company had to urgently start withdrawals from underground storage facilities in Europe and Russia; there was a cut in physical gas export supplies through the Yamal-Europe gas main, which is located in the same gas transmission corridor as the emergency plant. </p> <p>   </p> <p> Gazprom Transgaz Belarus also operates a 575-km Belarusian segment of Gazprom’s Yamal-Europe gas main with 5 compressor stations. Gazprom Transgaz Belarus is headquartered in Minsk. </p> <p>   </p> <p> Trunk gas pipelines running across Belarus pump Russian natural gas to the country’s westernmost region of Kaliningrad and further to Lithuania, Ukraine and Poland. </p> <p>   </p> <p> The Belarusian gas transport system operated by Gazprom Transgaz Belarus comprises over 7,900 km of gas pipelines, 13 compressor stations, 3 underground gas storage facilities, 226 gas distribution stations, 28 automobile gas-filling compressor stations and 7 gas metering stations. </p> <p>   </p> <p> As previously reported, Russia’s Gazprom will significantly reduce gas transportation through Belarus in 2021, as follows from the published contract with Gazprom Transgaz Belarus for gas transit through the Yamal-Europe pipeline. The cut in supplies will fall on the last quarter, when the new gas year starts. According to the document, the target for Gazprom Transgaz Belarus to transport gas to Western Europe for 2021 is 29.574 billion cubic metres, including 9.626 bcm in Q1, 9.183 bcm in Q2; 8.842 bcm in Q3; 1.923 bcm in Q4.
