Fitch affirms RussNeft rating at CC, withdraws due to sanctions

Fitch Ratings has confirmed the long-term issuer default rating (IDR) of Russian oil company RussNeft at ‘CC’ and has simultaneously withdrawn it, the agency said in a statement on Tuesday. </p> <p> </p> <p> The agency explained the withdrawal by the sanctions imposed on tycoon Mikhail Gutseriyev by the E.U. </p> <p> </p> <p> Gutseriyev used to be chairman of RussNeft’s board of directors, but stepped down after the E.U. blacklisted him for supporting Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. The shareholders of the company elected a new board of directors without Gutseriyev in late June. </p> <p> </p> <p> Earlier in July, RussNeft said that an independent legal review established that Gutseriyev does not control RussNeft.
