Exports remain priority task for Belarus’ diplomatic corps – Lukashenko

The promotion of exports is a priority task for the Belarusian diplomatic corps, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said at the meeting on foreign policy held on November 17, 2020, the presidential press office reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> “The main task for a diplomat outside our country, an ambassador and embassy is to promote our commodities on all markets. Exports are the main task for the diplomatic corps. Foreign economic relations plus other diplomatic procedures and actions are the chief matter for the Foreign Ministry. Therefore, Roman Aleksandrovich [Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko], the ball is in your court. The ministry is to report to you on the economic component of their activities,” said Lukashenko. </p> <p> </p> <p> He said Belarus is forced to pursue a multi-vector policy, and the Foreign Ministry and the government must convey this message to foreign partners. </p> <p> </p> <p> “We must speak with everyone who wants to speak with us and respects us. Maintaining the presence in the old markets and entering new ones is the key to our economic security. We need to know whether our approaches to export diversification, which we have already determined, need an adjustment,” said Lukashenko. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Belarus’ foreign trade turnover of goods and services dropped in January-September 2020 by 17.1% year on year to $51.134 billion.
