EU should be brought to account for doing harm to Belarus’ economy - MFA
<p> MINSK, Dec 18 - PrimePress. The initiators of the EU sanctions against Belarus should be held responsible for the tangible damage, including economic damage, caused to Minsk, said spokesman for the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Anatoli Glaz on December 18. </p> <p> </p> <p> “What is wrong with the Belarusian IT industry from the point of view of the European Union is unclear either. But one thing is clear: initiators of such actions should bear responsibility for every specific damage they've caused, including economic damage”, reads the official statement by Belarus’s MFA voiced by Glaz. </p> <p> </p> <p> The official said: “Our reciprocal measures have already been prepared. Some of them are quite biting... Belarus will take adequate actions to protect rights and legal interests of its citizens and legal persons. Everyone will get help.” </p> <p> </p> <p> On December 17, the EU enacted the third sanctions list on Belarus, which includes seven companies and 29 individuals. The EU sanctions target Beltechexport, Minsk Wheeled Tractor Plant (VOLAT), Dana Holdings, which is run by Serbian businessmen, as well as the IT company Synesis. At the same time, the EU said it was ready to further extend sanctions against Belarus authorities and companies, if the human rights situation in the country did not improve. End </p> <p> </p>
