EU Council okays third package of sanctions against Belarus
<p> MINSK, Dec 17 - PrimePress. The Council of the European Union (EU) approved a third package of restrictive measures in respect of Belarus on Dec 17, 2020, with more sanctions slapped against Belarus’ public sector and certain enterprises. The document specifying the details of the new restrictive measures has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union (EU). </p> <p> </p> <p> The EU sanctions list has been extended to include the following 29 natural persons: </p> <p> Anatol Sivak, Deputy Prime Minister; Ivan Eismont, chairman of Belarus State Radio and Television Company; Vladimir Karanik, chairman of Grodno Oblast Executive Committee; Natallia Kochanova, chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, Pavel Lyogkij, former First Vice Minister of Information; Igor Lutski, Minister of Information; Andrei Shved, Prosecutor General; Gennady Bogdan, deputy head of the Presidential Administration; Igor Burmistrov, first deputy commander of the Interior Ministry; Artiom Dunko, senior inspector for priority cases at the Financial Investigations Department of the State Control Committee; Oleg Karasei, head of the Prevention Department at the Interior Ministry; Dmitry Kurian, head of the Law Enforcement Department at the Interior Ministry; Alexander Turchin, chairman of Minsk Oblast Executive Committee; Dmitry Shumilin, deputy head of the Public Events Department at the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Minsk City Executive Committee; Vitali Stasiukevich, Deputy Head of the Public Security Police of Grodno; Sergei Kalinnik, head of the Interior Department of Minsk City’s Sovietski District Administration; Vadim Prigara, head of Molodechno Police Department, Viktor Stanislavchik, deputy head of the Interior Department of Minsk City’s Sovietski District Administration. </p> <p> </p> <p> The list also includes Alexander Petrash, chairman of Minsk City’s Moskovksi District Court; Andrei Lagunovich, a judge at Sovietski District Court of Gomel; Elena Litvina, a judge at Leninski District Court of Mogilev; Viktoria Shabunya, a judge at Minsk City’s Central District Court; Alena Zhivitsa, a judge at Minsk City’s Kastrychnitski District Court; Natallia Dedkova, a judge at Minsk City’s Partyzanski District Court; Marina Fyodorova, a judge at Minsk City’s Sovietski District Court; Yulia Gustyr, a judge at Minsk City’s Central District Court; Alena Nekrasova a judge at Minsk City’s Zavodskoi District Court. </p> <p> </p> <p> In addition, the EU imposed sanctions on the owner of Amkodor Group Alexander Shakutin and co-owner of Bremino Group, Mikalai Vorobey. </p> <p> </p> <p> The sanctions list also includes 7 entities: Beltechexport, Dana Holdings/Dana Astra, State Institution – the state institution “The Main Economic Office” of the Administrative Affairs Office of the President, Cinesis LLC, AGAT Electromechanical Plant, 140 Repair Plant OJSC, Minsk Wheeled Tractor Plant OJSC. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, the EU has imposed two packages of sanctions against 55 Belarusian officials, including President Alexander Lukashenko. The sanctions include a ban on entry into the EU, the freezing of accounts of individuals and legal entities, as well as a ban on direct or indirect cooperation by EU residents with the individuals on the sanctions list.
