EEU to draw up agreement on oil and oil product markets in 2021 – vice premier

The member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) are expected to finalize a draft agreement on the common markets of oil and oil products in 2021, says Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Igor Petrishenko. </p> <p> </p> <p> “We are still in talks on the draft agreements on the common markets of oil and oil products of the Eurasian Economic Union and common rules for accessibility to services of oil and oil products transportation infrastructure. The work on both documents will be completed in 2021,” Petrishenko told Respublika daily. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the official, the EEU Treaty tasks to launch common electricity, natural gas, oil and oil products markets in a coordinated manner based on common approaches and goals stipulated by the Treaty. </p> <p> </p> <p> “In 2020, Belarus, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan ratified an international treaty on the common electricity market of the Union, and internal procedures are nearing completion in Russia and Kazakhstan,” Petrishenko said. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Supreme Eurasian Economic Council approved in November 2020 an action plan to harmonize the legislation of member states for the launch of common markets of oil and oil products. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, a single EEU market of oil, gas and electricity was planned to start operating in 2025. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Eurasian Economic Union has been functioning since January 1, 2015. It unites Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan and Russia. End </p>
