EEU to draw up agreement on gas pricing and transportation tariffs in 2021 – EEC

An agreement on gas pricing and gas transportation in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia) will be drawn up in 2021, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Mikhail Myasnikovich said on November 30, 2020.<br> <br> According to the common gas market program for 2021, a draft international agreement on gas pricing and gas transportation will be prepared, he said.<br> <br> Myasnikovich said that it might be more convenient to resolve gas-related issues under bilateral agreements, for example, between Belarus and Russia, without waiting for the common market.<br> <br> “The degree of integration should be taken into account, and some matters may be addressed bilaterally, since not all issues can be resolved in the format of the Five,” he said.<br> <br> Approaches to the common gas market differ: Russia and Kazakhstan have one position, while Belarus, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan have another, Myasnikovich said. Kyrgyzstan also proposes to regulate gas trade with third countries, and already procures a certain amount from Uzbekistan.<br> <br> “I think this will be one of the key points on the agenda on December 11 [EEU summit],” Myasnikovich said.
