EEU states agree to synchronize export customs duties – Belarus’ premier
<p> MINSK, Aug 23 - PrimePress. Member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) have agreed to synchronize and coordinate their actions when introducing export customs duties, Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko said on 22 August in an interview to Belarus 1 TV channel while commenting on the outcome of the 19 August meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council. </p> <p> </p> <p> “An important issue for us was the synchronization of export duties in the EEU. We have agreed on synchronization, with the national sovereignty being preserved, in order to prevent goods from being redirected to another country, when one country turns to tariff protection in the form of export duties. We are not talking about unified export duties, but we have agreed to coordinate actions in order to respect the interests of each party,” the prime minister said. </p> <p> </p> <p> Due to a feverish demand worldwide, we can see a shortage of certain resources, which are important for our countries: these are grains, timber, metals and paper, he explained. </p> <p> </p> <p> The 19 August meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council supported Belarus’ call to accelerate setting up the Eurasian reinsurance organization, “which I see as a win of Belarus”, said Golovchenko. “For us, this is a beneficial and necessary step in the face of the sanctions which also apply to reinsurance services for Belarusian insurers.” End </p> <p> </p>
