EEU’s industrial output down 2.7% in 2020

Industrial output in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) decreased by 2.7% in 2020, the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> The largest output decline was observed in Kyrgyzstan (by 6.6%) and in Russia (by 2.9%). Belarus and Kazakhstan reported a 0.7% decrease; Armenia – 0.9%. </p> <p> </p> <p> Manufacturing industries in the EEU showed 0.4% growth in 2020; the mining industry – down 6.5%; electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning – down 2.4%; water supply, sewage, waste treatment – down 3.6%. </p> <p> </p> <p> Industrial output in the EEU increased by 2.9% in the first quarter of 2020. Anti-coronavirus restrictions caused a sharp decline in EEU’ industrial output since the second quarter. Output began to stabilize by the end of 2020.
