EEU-China trade turnover up 24.8% in H1 2021 to $73.5bn

Trade turnover between the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and the People’s Republic of China grew by 24.8% year on year in January-June 2021 up to $73.5 billion, said Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Mikhail Myasnikovich. </p> <p> </p> <p> “By comparison, the trade turnover between the EEU and the European Union (which includes 27 countries) is $145 billion, an increase of 27.9%. It should be noted that trade and economic cooperation between the EEU and China is developing very successfully. China ranks first in the EEU trade turnover and is our priority partner. The 2018 agreement on trade and economic cooperation between the EEU and China contributes to this. We see that new initiatives are needed to consolidate success and move forward. The Eurasian Economic Commission has taken the initiative to ensure the construction of digital transport corridors. In our opinion, this will allow trade to reach a new level,” said Myasnikovich. </p> <p> </p> <p> In his words, the next step will be the establishment of management companies for wholesale and distribution and logistics centres. “We are working on it.
