EEC starts implementing roadmap to create single market for organic agricultural products

The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) jointly with member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) started implementing the roadmap for creating a single market of organic agricultural products, said the EEC press service. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, the roadmap for creating a common market of organic agricultural products in the EEU was approved by the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council on 20 August 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> To date, the functioning of the common market of organic products of the union is hindered by a number of factors. These include differences in the national legislations of the EEU states in terms of requirements for production, labelling, certification procedures for such products, and accreditation of conformity assessment bodies. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to expert estimates, currently the share of the area involved in organic agriculture does not exceed 1% of the total arable land of the EEU, and production is characterized by raw material specialization.
