EEC preparing measures to support EEU metallurgists amid pandemic

The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) is preparing a list of measures to support metallurgists from the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU - Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia) in the context of the coronavirus pandemic. </p> <p> </p> <p> The EEC issued a statement to this effect following the II Eurasian Sectoral Conference for the metallurgical industry, Prime agency reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> EEC Minister for Industry and Agroindustrial Complex Artak Kamalyan said at the conference that as a result of the difficult economic situation due to the coronavirus pandemic, metallurgical production in the EEU decreased by 2.9% year on year in H1 2020, and cooperation supplies in metallurgy decreased by 17.6%. </p> <p> </p> <p> In order to stimulate consumption of metallurgical products within the EEU and actively promote them in foreign markets in the context of the pandemic, the EEC jointly with the Eurasian Development Bank is working on mechanisms to support projects with an integration potential. </p> <p> </p> <p> A new area of joint work to promote Eurasian exports to third country markets could be joint testing laboratories in the territory of the Eurasian Economic Community to confirm the conformity of Eurasian products in these countries.
