EEC nullifies import duty on certain graphite electrodes for 2 years

The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has decided to slash to zero the rate of import customs duty for two years with regard to certain types of graphite electrodes. The decision was made at the meeting on March 5, 2021, the EEC press service reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> This product is used in arc steelmaking furnaces for melting metals. In their manufacture, needle coke and coal furnace pitch bought in third countries are mainly used as raw materials. The production capacity of enterprises producing electrodes in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) can meet less than half of domestic demand for such products. End </p>
